Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the Android application Docxter (package name com.docxter.app), provided by The Skynth (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

2. Information stored locally

The App stores the following information locally on your device:

• Your chosen reading speed, text size, and text-to-speech voice;
• The reading position (down to the sentence) of the document you most recently opened, so the App can reopen to the same spot;
• A bookmark position you choose to save within a document, if any; and
• A reference to a document you opened through Android's file picker, so the App can reopen it automatically. This reference is only usable by Docxter and only for files you explicitly chose.

The documents you open are read directly from wherever you chose them (your device storage, cloud storage app, etc.) and processed only in memory to display and read them aloud. We do not operate any servers, and none of this information is uploaded anywhere by Docxter.

3. Text-to-speech

Docxter sends the text you are reading to whichever text-to-speech engine is installed and selected on your phone (for example, your device manufacturer's engine or Google's). Most voices synthesize speech entirely offline on your device. Some engines offer optional "network" voices, labelled as such in Docxter's voice picker — if you choose one, your phone's text-to-speech engine (not Docxter) sends the text to that engine's own service to generate audio. That exchange is governed by your text-to-speech engine's own privacy policy, and Docxter has no visibility into, and does not control, that traffic.

4. Google Play purchase

Docxter is a paid app purchased once through Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment-card, bank-account, or billing details. Your purchase is processed entirely by Google under its own terms and privacy policy.

5. How information is used

Information described in this policy is used to:

• Read your chosen document aloud and display it as you read;
• Save and restore your reading position, bookmark, and preferences; and
• Maintain security, stability, and legal compliance.

6. Legal bases for EEA, UK, and Swiss users

Where applicable, processing may rely on:

• Performance of a contract, including providing the reading and playback functionality you purchased; and
• Legitimate interests, such as app security and stability, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

7. Sharing and international processing

We do not sell your personal information. Because Docxter does not use advertising, analytics, or cloud services, no personal information is shared with third parties in connection with your use of the App, other than: your device's own text-to-speech engine, as described in Section 3, and Google Play's handling of your purchase, as described in Section 4. We do not operate our own servers and do not maintain a separate database of App users.

8. Retention and deletion

Locally stored information remains on your device until you clear the App's storage or uninstall the App. Clearing storage or uninstalling permanently removes your reading position, bookmark, and preferences. A Google Play purchase may remain associated with your Google account so that Google can restore it if you reinstall the App.

The App does not create an online account of any kind. To delete local Docxter information, use Android Settings > Apps > Docxter > Storage > Clear storage, or uninstall the App. For privacy enquiries, contact us using the details below.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or information about processing and disclosures. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. We will respond to valid requests as required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

10. Children's privacy

Docxter is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information directly to us. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action. Store age ratings and regional minimum ages may also apply.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the App and the information processed. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, its service providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy at this URL and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or through the Google Play listing where appropriate.
